Neuralieve's TMS Treatment System includes a portable device that enables home-use administered by patients. Once the product is cleared by the FDA, physicians can prescribe the therapy for patients to treat themselves and can utilize the system to help patients manage their disease.
Each Neuralieve TMS Treatment delivers a focused magnetic pulse which lasts a millisecond (1/1000 of a second). In comparison, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) produces a large static field to which the patient may be exposed for as long as 20 minutes.
The Neuralieve TMS device that was used in the latest clinical trial completed in 2008 was a hand-held device which was contoured to the back of the head to facilitate positioning.
